MB Hanoi Cup 2026: The Battle for the Golden Tickets
HANOI, VIETNAM – The energy at the My Dinh Athletics Palace was electric as Day 1 of the PPA Asia Tour’s MB Hanoi Cup 2026 officially got underway. While the world’s top-ranked professionals prepared for their debut later in the week, Wednesday was all about the Qualifying Round grind.
Understanding the Points: What is a PPA 1000?

The MB Hanoi Cup is designated as a PPA 1000 event. In the PPA Tour’s tiered ranking system, the numerical value represents the maximum number of ranking points awarded to the gold medalists in each professional category.
- PPA 1000 (Cup Status): These are premier events on the tour. Winners earn 1,000 points, which are crucial for determining season-long standings and eligibility for the PPA Finals.
- Point Distribution: As players progress through the bracket, they earn points based on their final standing. While the winners take 1,000, silver medalists typically earn 650 points, and bronze medalists earn 450 points.
- The "Road to Finals": Points accumulated at 1000-level events carry significant weight in the PPA World Rankings. This helps players secure a higher seeding in future tournaments and qualify them for Year-End championships.
