PARAÑAQUE CITY, Philippines — A new professional pickleball competition, the Pickle Yard Conference League (PYCL) 2026, is positioning itself as the country’s most ambitious league yet, introducing a five-month season, corporate-owned teams, and an official player draft designed to bring structure, parity, and long-form storytelling to the fast-growing sport.
Organizers said PYCL aims to “redefine the sport” locally by creating a league format similar to established pro systems, complete with weekly matchups, real standings, and team rivalries that develop over the course of a full season.
Five-Month Pro Season
Unlike short tournament runs, PYCL is set to hold a long-term, professional five-month season, which league officials described as a first for Philippine pickleball. The extended calendar is expected to encourage endurance, strategy, player development, and consistent fan engagement as teams compete weekly for placement in the standings.
Corporate Franchises and Player Draft
PYCL is also opening the door for corporations to franchise teams, with rosters to be formed through a PYCL Draft featuring players from across the country. Inspired by draft-based leagues, the system is designed to promote competitive balance and build recognizable franchise identities, while giving athletes a clearer pathway into professional competition.
Elite Competition Framework
The league said it will feature the country’s top-level competitors under a structured setup that includes divisions, rankings, and team standings. PYCL also emphasized athlete support such as branding exposure, media opportunities, performance analytics, coaching pathways, and career development, along with partner-provided incentives including bonuses, promotions, brand collaborations, and possible local and international representation opportunities.
National Broadcast and Digital Coverage
PYCL is planning broad media visibility, including national television coverage and distribution across major social platforms. Organizers also outlined plans for game highlights, behind-the-scenes content, documentaries, and player-focused storytelling aimed at building fan loyalty and week-to-week anticipation.
