Johns arrives with numbers that scarcely need embellishment: 156 PPA gold medals, concurrent No. 1 rankings in men’s doubles and mixed doubles, and a 108-match singles win streak that still stands as the tour’s longest.
The Malaysia Cup is classified as a Cup-level stop on the newly launched PPA Tour Asia—one rung below a Slam on the three-tier ladder (Slam, Cup, Open). Cup events award 1,500 ranking points and guarantee at least five-hundred-thousand dollars (US $500,000) in prize money and payouts, making Kuala Lumpur the richest destination in Asian pickleball to date.
